Physical Phenomenon


Physical phenomenon or processes are the terms used to describe the changes in the states of a physical system post its interactions with the environment. A physical phenomenon has an origin, course of existence and an end. 

Each of the stages of this element of scientific thinking can be marked as per the objective of the study. This article tries to gain further insight on this subject.

Physical Phenomenon or Processes:
  • ·        A physical phenomenon or process is the sum total of the changes that take place in a physical system and the environment on their mutual interactions.
  • ·        The initial state of the physical system passes through intermediate stages and finally reaches the terminal stage.
  • ·        In scientific thinking, the initial and final stages of the phenomenon can be definite or treated as final one in accordance with the objective of the study.
  • ·        Several processes have features which are common in nature and this helps in drawing a similarity between a known process and a seemingly unfamiliar one.
  • ·        In fact, the existence of interdependence and similarities between physical processes in nature is an accepted belief among the physicists.
  • ·        In this way, the physical processes in nature are not to be treated as separate entities and they together form a well organized system.
  • ·        The conditions of the final state of a physical system under a physical process can form the initial conditions for another process to begin.


Conclusion: While the scope of analysis of any physical phenomenon is very wide, we always constrain the process of scientific thinking within the parameters of study objectives.
